ETSU-led partnership awarded $255,165 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission
The focus is on healthcare worker training.
East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and its regional public college and university (RPCU) partners will work collaboratively across six states and 235 counties to develop actionable and sustainable plans to implement healthcare worker training opportunities.
Using $255,165 in funding provided by the Appalachian Regional Commission under its Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies (ARISE) program, ETSU and its partners will complete:
- A healthcare workforce training and needs gap analysis;
- A literature review of promising practices for engaging students;
- An implementation plan; and
- A website that will include information about the consortium and a comprehensive listing of health training programs across partner institutions.
ETSU and the partners – Appalachian State University, Eastern Kentucky University,
Marshall University, Ohio University, Radford University, and Shawnee State University – are bringing a combined $109,359 in matching funds to this project. They will complete four plans/reports by the end of the 12-month performance period.
