Eric Weissmann, part of the founding team at Cincinnati’s Cintrifuse entrepreneurial support organization, has been named Executive Director of NEXT, a similar entrepreneur support organization in Greenville, SC.
Founded in 2006 and with three locations including NEXT Innovation, NEXT on Main and NEXT Manufacturing, NEXT is primarily funded by the City of Greenville as part of its economic development strategy to attract small and medium sized companies that provide high wage, knowledge-based jobs.
Weissmann was Cintrifuse’s Vice President of External Relations where he launched “StartupCincy,” an initiative that started as a simple social media hashtag and bloomed into a full-fledged, connected community. He was selected after a national search.
He will start his new role later this month.
“As we look to the future, NEXT has a goal of tripling investment in the entrepreneurial ecosystem that we serve,” said Scott Millwood, the organization’s Chair. “Under Weissmann’s leadership, we are confident NEXT will have the strategic and visionary leadership needed to accomplish these goals.”
As some local leaders will recall, Greenville Mayor Knox White came to Knoxville several years ago to share the story of the city’s emergence as a vibrant community including for start-ups.
