Eric Mathews takes a look at the evolution and impact of start-up accelerators

Eric Mathews is a familiar name in the Volunteer State’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, albeit in the western part of the state. More than 15 years ago, he launched one of the first 100 start-up accelerators to operate in the world in Memphis. His work has since expanded to support a cadre of digital and economic advancement initiatives in Memphis and beyond.

In 2011, Mathews co-founded Start Co., a venture architect firm where he serves as Chief Executive Officer. In addition to building new start-ups, the organization provides the processes for corporations, governments, universities, and other organizations to build data and technology solutions, new business models, and civic innovations that leverage the power of digital cities, innovative talent, venture development expertise, capital, and global connectivity.

Mathews recently authored this paper (GAN_Whitepapers_Public_Release) on the history and impact of accelerators for an organization with the acronym of GAN. That’s short for Global Accelerator Network.
