Three East TN companies selected for lastest “The TENN” cohort
Three East Tennessee companies – one from Chattanooga and two from Knoxville – have been selected to participate in this year’s “The TENN” program coordinated by Launch Tennessee.
Those from the region are:
- Branch Technology, a participant in this year’s “GIGTANK” and winner of the coveted “Investors’ Choice Award.” The start-up, previously profiled on teknovation.biz, combines freeform 3D printing technology, large scale industrial robots and conventional construction materials to create buildings without design limits.
- Innovasan, a Knoxville-based start-up that has won several pitch competitions including last year’s Life Science Tennessee “Venture Forum.” The company, which has been the subject of several teknovation.biz posts including this initial overview, has created the only technology solution for affordable, sustainable and safe on-site treatment of fluid medical waste in hospitals, surgery centers and other medical treatment facilities.
- Sing and Spell, the Knoxville-based winner of this year’s “MediaWorks” accelerator. The company, profiled in a two-part series (PART 1 and PART 2) on teknovation.biz, has created an animated, musical program that teaches pre-preschoolers alphabet letter basics through lessons and original songs.
Now in its third iteration, “The TENN” begins October 21 when the companies attend Launch Tennessee’s board meeting followed by an event during which the entrepreneurs will meet the master mentors with whom they will be working closely throughout the program.
The full program includes training in The Rockefeller Habits, a business management system, and learning days on key business topics, such as marketing, financial management and operations. The nine teams will also travel throughout Tennessee to meet executives at top corporations during a week-long roadshow and fly to California and New York for networking trips. The program will conclude with a demo day in spring 2016.

- KaraoQ of Nashville, a start-up developing technologies that enhance how people interact and engage in venues by digitizing the antiquated karaoke experience for nightlife enthusiasts;
- LendMed of Memphis, developing a platform that provides hospitals a controlled environment for borrowing and lending medical supplies, allowing them to initiate requests, approve requests, and keep an itemized accounting system of debts;
