Deadline approaching for applications under expanded “Opportunity Appalachia” program

Back in late February, we posted this article about the expansion of the “Opportunity Appalachia” (OA) program to two additional states, and one of the two is Tennessee.

The article also included a reference to the next round of funding for OA projects, and those applications are due by 5 p.m. EDT April 15. Funding up to $75,000 per project is expected to assist 40 additional communities to structure investments in real estate projects that support strategies for economic restructuring and diversification. Investment priorities include projects focusing on downtown development, manufacturing, information technology, healthcare, education, food systems, clean energy, heritage tourism, and recreation.

Program background is available here, and the application is available here. Tennessee applicants are also encouraged to contact vpresearch@tennessee.edu for support.
