David Belitz named Partner at Solas BioVentures
David Belitz has joined Chattanooga-based Solas BioVentures as a Partner where he will lead the firm’s financial due diligence team, reviewing new investments and continually monitoring and reviewing the existing portfolio.
The Knoxville native brings a 25-year career in the financial services industry to the venture capital firm that invests exclusively in the life science industry. Led by Co-Founder and Managing General Partner David Adair, Solas BioVentures focuses on early and development stage biotech and MedTech companies advancing impactful, disruptive technologies.
“David (pictured at right) leading the financial review and monitoring of potential and current portfolio companies is invaluable for supporting our continued growth,” Adair said. “His decades of experience and reputation for exemplary fiscal oversight will help ensure we’re doing everything we can to support our portfolio companies wisely while maximizing returns.”
Belitz currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The Lupton Company which he joined as Controller in 1997. He told us in an email that he will continue in that role as well as being a Partner in Solas BioVentures. Since 2009, Belitz has also served as a founding General Partner of the Chattanooga Renaissance Funds (I and II), a series of angel funds investing in seed and early stage businesses. Belitz also serves on the investment committee of the Benwood Foundation and the endowment committee of the University of Chattanooga Foundation.
He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville and a Master of Business Administration degree is from UT at Chattanooga.
