DARPA’s “Embedded Entrepreneurship Initiative” helping address “Valley of Death” challenge
It is described as a “concept (that) is essentially the flip side of DoD’s typical focus: That is, how do you get innovative companies into the DoD ecosystem?”
DoD obviously stands for the Department of Defense and the “it” is DoD’s relatively new “Embedded Entrepreneurship Initiative” (EEI). The focus is on fostering a healthy ecosystem for participating companies and their innovations to coalesce in the first place. The program was described in this recent article from Federal News Network where Stefanie Tompkins, Director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, referred to it as a very specific pathway to help some technologies through the so-called “Valley of Death.”
