Cyber Consortium plans next meeting in October

Cyber securityProtecting data is an increasingly important issue for all businesses. With that in mind, the new Cyber & Information Security Consortium (CISC) will be holding its fall meeting on October 17 in conjunction with the EDGE 2016 Security Conference scheduled for October 18 and 19. Both events are scheduled for the Crowne Plaza in Downtown Knoxville.

CISC is an initiative growing out of an April cybersecurity event held at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The organization’s goal is to make businesses and industries the most secure they can be, expand R&D opportunities in cybersecurity, create a strong pipeline of cybersecurity talent, and transition new cybersecurity capabilities to industry in ways that grow new cybersecurity-focused companies.

In addition to the lab, other key enterprises spearheading the effort include the University of Tennessee, Cisco Systems, and Sword & Shield. For more information on CISC, contact Nicole Allen at the East Tennessee Economic Council. Her email is allen@eteconline.org.
