CO.LAB announces second summer accelerator, opens applications

CO.LABChattanooga’s CO.LAB announced yesterday that it will be offering two accelerators this summer, and applications for both are now being accepted.

The non-profit’s well-known “GIGTANK Accelerator” will be joined this year by the all-new “Lifestyle & Consumer Goods Accelerator.” Both programs, which run from May 15 through July 31, are designed for high-growth start-ups working to scale their companies through the pursuit of pilot partnerships, angel or venture capital, and new customers.

“GIGTANK,” established in 2012, targets start-ups developing applications that thrive on high-speed, low-latency networks. The program invites innovators from across the globe to leverage Chattanooga’s fiber optic network and 10 Gbps internet service to test and develop next-gen internet applications.

With its newest accelerator, Marcus Shaw, CO.LAB’s Chief Executive Officer, says the organization is providing a unique new opportunity.

“Chattanooga is home to a booming outdoor recreation scene and a thriving food and beverage production industry,” he said. “CO.LAB offers entrepreneurs the ability to develop ideas and products with support from a network of mentors involved in these exciting sectors. We believe Chattanooga’s recent growth reflects an opportune moment for companies looking to break into a ripe consumer market.”

Qualified candidates for the “Lifestyle & Consumer Goods Accelerator” must demonstrate a completed proof of concept. Prospects may include, but are not limited to, those working in areas like pre-packaged food and beverages; SAAS products designed for the retail space; outdoor/recreational equipment and apparel; e-commerce platforms; brewery, distillery and restaurant expansion concepts; and 3D printing applications for consumer products.

Applications for the two accelerators are being accepted until April 1. You can find the application at this link. CO.LAB is also recruiting mentors and corporate partners, and interested parties can learn more by clicking here.
