CNS five-city “Y-12 Road Show” starts today in Knoxville

CNSLater today at the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center (KEC), Consolidated Nuclear Services (CNS), managing contractor for the Y-12 National Security Complex, is kicking-off a five-city road show promoting some of its more promising technologies.

Over the next two months, CNS is partnering with regional venture development organizations to host its “Y-12 Road Show” in an effort to promote commercialization. Each session will include three-minute technology pitches followed by Q&A.

“If you are looking to start a business or have interest in adding a product to your existing business, this is for you,” John Morris, a local serial entrepreneur working with CNS, says.

The schedule after today’s KEC “First Friday Fanfare” is as follows:

  • August 9 – 5 to 7 p.m. at the ABTech Incubator at 1465 Sand Hill Road, Candler, NC;
  • August 18 – 5 to 7 p.m. CDT at the Biztech Incubator in Huntsville, AL;
  • September 21 – 5 to 7 p.m. CDT in Cookeville in partnership with The Biz Foundry, but held at Tennessee Tech University’s iCube facility in the Volpe Library, Third Floor.
  • Chattanooga – 12 noon October 18 as part of “Talk Shop Tuesday” at CO.LAB in the Edney Innovation Center.

The technologies presented are: blast resistant seat for law enforcement or military, low cost chemical sensing, delayed door latching for security applications, software for emergency management, infrared for debonding paint and adhesives, corporate knowledge preservation software, microwave method to reduce machine tool waste, personal device for alerting corporate security issues, low cost carbon nanotube production, environmentally safe solvent for paint and adhesive removal, and dry wipes for residue removal.
