Closed Loop Partners invests in the circular economy

A particular area of focus for investors today is the so-called circular economy — a system designed to generate zero waste in production and distribution, and dedicated to the recycling and regeneration of materials.

That’s the area of focus for a New York-based investment firm aptly named Closed Loop Partners. It incorporates venture capital, private equity, project financing and an innovation center, the latter dubbed the Center for the Circular Economy that brings together nominal competitors to explore ways to implement appropriate techniques and technologies across industries.

According to this article, Closed Loop Partners will invest anywhere between $250,000 and $5 million in the early stages of a start-up’s life. As the new venture grows, the firm can draw on other funds and capital that are earmarked for more mature ventures. But unlike some venture funds that push for an early return on their investment, often in the form of an initial public offering or acquisition, Closed Loop Partners doesn’t walk away from the enterprises that it nurtured.
