CAV Angels uses UVA students for much of its due diligence

CAV Angels is a non-profit club composed of University of Virginia (UVA) alumni, faculty, parents, students, and friends of UVA who share two goals:

  • To be recognized as one of the most esteemed and effective angel groups in the country; and
  • To catalyze the engagement of UVA alumni in burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystems and mobilize the highest levels of investment in the most promising early stage companies through tailored educational programming, hands-on student engagement, and curated access to robust and proprietary deal flow.

Based in Charlottesville but with chapters in other locations across the Commonwealth, CAV Angels was founded in 2016 and invests exclusively in UVA-related companies and founders. Three years ago, the group launched a new initiative named CAVenture where companies looking for funding agree to undergo a due-diligence process conducted principally by UVA students who are guided by the CAV Angels board, executive committee or other volunteer members.
