The BizFoundry hosting first of KEC’s expanded series of Etsy workshops

Biz FoundryDo you make custom jewelry, decorative home items, or other handmade products for sale or gift giving and want to start an online shop for your unique line of handcrafted items? If so and you also live in Cookeville, a new offering from The BizFoundry in Cookeville might be just what you need.

The Upper Cumberland’s entrepreneur center is collaborating with the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center (KEC) to offer a free two-day class to help craft makers establish an online business to sell their products to a wider market and earn extra income.

This two-session series is part of an expanded set of offerings that are funded under a grant awarded by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to KEC. The latter has been offering workshops for makers, mostly in Knoxville, for the past two years. KEC became more engaged in the maker movement in conjunction with the inaugural “Knoxville Maker City Summit” in 2016.

According to an announcement from The BizFoundry, applications for the two-day Cookeville program are being accepted through January 20. To be considered, individuals must reside in Cookeville, have at least one handmade item, have both a checking account and a credit/debit card, have regular internet access and a computer for managing an Etsy account, and commit to attending the two all-day sessions set for January 27 and February 3.

“Spaces are highly limited,” the announcement says. Applications are available here.
