Belmont launches new program named Impact Teams

It is a collaboration with child development organization Compassion International to address some of the world’s most formidable challenges.

Child development organization Compassion International and Belmont Innovation Labs have announced a new partnership to pilot Impact Teams, groups of expert volunteers and mentors who will come alongside social innovators dedicated to addressing the world’s most formidable challenges.

The announcement was made during last week’s annual Hope Summit event hosted by the Nashville-based university where the first two Compassion alumni entrepreneurs were named. They are:

  • Jey Mbiro, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sauti Village; and
  • Maureen Kaderi, Executive Director of Rehema House in Kenya.

On its website, the mission of Impact Teams is described this way: “Too many of these agents of hope and transformation struggle to achieve their potential, not for lack of powerful ideas, but for lack of adequate support and community. Impact Teams seek to provide both and in the process unlock the deep, enduring solutions we so badly need. Impact Teams are year-long journeys of refinement and maturation where we match social innovators with the mentors, subject matter experts, business leaders, designers, investors, and others that they most need if they are to succeed.”

Founded in 2022 with a multi-sector, multi-stakeholder approach, Belmont Innovation Labs tackle complex challenges facing society, collaborating in working groups around core issues to develop ventures that promote human flourishing and community thriving.
