Belmont joins groundbreaking partnership between AWS and the Nashville Innovation Alliance

Belmont University has joined a groundbreaking partnership between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Nashville Innovation Alliance, a collective of visionary leaders from across Nashville’s civic, business, and academic communities committed to enhancing the region’s innovation ecosystem.
The partnership will serve as a key resource created to help bridge the gap between education and industry in Tennessee’s rapidly growing technology sector.
The initiative, known as the AWS Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance, has a goal of serving more than 1,000 Tennesseans by 2027, with plans to expand statewide by 2026. Students will have access to AWS training modules, applied projects, and experiential learning opportunities with participating organizations.
With Nashville tapped as the deployment city, the collaboration marks Tennessee as one of only six U.S. regions so far selected for this national initiative. The goal is to align academic programs with real-world workforce needs, ensuring students are equipped with the most in-demand skills across cloud computing, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.
“If Nashville is to be successful in the future, we need to be intentional now about readying our local workforce to meet this demand,” said Mayor Freddie O’Connell. “This partnership demonstrates the power of public-private collaboration and the exceptional talent emerging from our local universities.”
The Tech Alliance is available in the following countries: Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Within the U.S., it is available in six states: Illinois, New York, Texas, Washington, West Virginia, and Tennessee.
