AVCC is the U.S. Army’s venture capital arm

Who would have thought that the U.S. Army has its own venture fund, but it’s true.

The Army Venture Capital Corporation (AVCC) was created by Congress in 2002 but has sat dormant for 10 years without funding. Now, it has a new Managing Director who is working to get funding from Congress to invest in start-ups. Jake Chapman is seeking $50 to $100 million for AVCC to become a critical part of getting more emerging technology in the hands of troops.
