South lands nine of top 15 U.S. states for auto parts manufacturing
The supply chain for automotive original equipment manufacturers is enormous. The parts supplier industry employs more than 734,000 workers in the U.S. and contributes about $355 billion to the gross domestic product. A recent study by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association in conjunction with IHA ranked the top 15 states for direct employment in the auto parts industry and nine of the 15 are in the Southern Auto Corridor.
