Ateios Systems closes $7.25M Series A fund to transform battery manufacturing
The company was part of the 2022 cohort of the Innovation Crossroads program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
One year after winning a million-dollar investment at the inaugural TitletownTech Start-up Draft, Ateios Systems has closed a $7.25M Series A to scale its next-generation lithium-ion battery electrodes and supply battery manufacturers at a larger commercial scale.
The raise was led by TitletownTech. The latest funding round saw strong support from a deep bench of returning and first-time backers.
Existing investors included Elevate Ventures, VisionTech Partners, Good Growth Capital, Lateral Capital, Techstars, and Keshif Ventures. New investors included JHH Ventures, Stonecast Ventures, Zaka Ventures, Carat Venture Partners, and E8 Angels.
Transforming the battery process
Ateios is tackling the energy-intensive and toxic manufacturing process of lithium-ion batteries.
Traditional batteries undergo a thermal curing process that is slow, costly, and uses PFAs (forever chemicals). Ateios’ RaiCure™ technology, developed in collaboration with ORNL, uses energy-curable polymers, creating a more sustainable product all around.
“If chips are the brains of the modern machines, batteries are the heart. Ateios is helping the industry build them better, faster, and cleaner,” said Founder Rajan Kumar.

This funding comes at a critical moment as global energy demand surges due to an aging power grid, AI data centers, and the continued push for electric vehicles.
“Ateios is addressing a real constraint in battery manufacturing with a solution that can be embedded into existing production lines today,” said Craig Dickman, Managing Partner at TitletownTech and Ateios board member. “That ability to transition without disruption matters, especially as energy demand continues to grow and the industry needs to scale quickly.”
What’s next
The new capital will expand Ateios’ commercial partnerships with battery and advanced materials partners. This includes leveling up their already existing partnerships with Eastman Kodak and Vianode to increase production capacity and manufacturing capabilities.
