ARC, State of TN holding rural economic development conference
The Appalachian Regional Commission and the State of Tennessee are holding a special conference in Johnson City focused on rural development.
The event, set for August 30 and 31 at the Millennium Centre, is titled “Aspire Appalachia: Collaborations in Rural Development.” The bulk of the program is August 31 with discussions focused on efforts to support entrepreneurial and business development to strengthen rural economies; increase knowledge, skills, and health for a ready local workforce; expand access to broadband to spur economic activity in rural communities; leverage natural and cultural assets to increase local economic development potential; and build leadership capacity to advance community and economic development.
