ARC hosting POWER-focused virtual event this Thursday

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is partnering with President Biden’s Interagency Working Group on Revitalizing Coal and Power Plant Communities to host a virtual event this Thursday morning.

Titled “New Opportunities for Coal Communities,” the event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon September 16. It will include:

  • A spotlight on Matewan, WV, a community in the heart of coal-impacted Appalachia;
  • A discussion of strategies and stories shared by ARC POWER (Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization) partners from West Virginia and Kentucky as they address the challenge; and
  • An announcement of the latest winners of awards under ARC’s POWER initiative.
