Second annual “Meet Your Match” event for automotive companies set for May 10

The second annual “Meet Your Match” buyer-supplier matchmaking event for automotive companies will be held May 10 in Murfreesboro.

Launched last year by several organizations, the event enables representatives from Tier 2 and 3 companies to meet with purchasing directors from Tier 1 automotive suppliers. The 2017 matchmaking event put 44 Tier 2 and 3 suppliers from across the region face-to-face with procurement officers from Nissan, Volkswagen and several Tier 1 companies, generating more than 175 meetings.

There will be an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. May 9 with the matchmaking program running from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 10 at the Embassy Suites Conference Center. Buyers can register by contacting Felicia Roberts at 615-532-3328 or email her at felicia.roberts@tennessee.edu. Suppliers can register at this link.

As an added benefit to manufacturers in the state, the organizers are also holding the nation’s first “Advanced Manufacturing Solutions Symposium” where representatives of five Manufacturing USA Institutes, including the Knoxville-based Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI), will be available to discuss their programs and capabilities.

All registrants will have access to representatives from these manufacturing centers. In addition to IACMI, they include America Makes, Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute, Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow, and NextFlex.

The event is coordinated by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Tennessee Automotive Manufacturers Association, and University of Tennessee’s Center for Industrial Services.
