AMI bringing corporate headquarters, R&D center and manufacturing to Blount County

AMIThe chilly weather yesterday morning did nothing to dampen the beaming smiles on the faces of several hundred individuals who gathered at the Blount Partnership headquarters in Maryville for what was billed as a major economic development announcement.

Wasting no time, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam revealed the details of what Bryan Daniels, Partnership President and Chief Executive Officer, described as “one of the largest capital investments ever in our region.”

Advanced Munitions International (AMI), currently located in Payson, Arizona, will invest more than $550 million to build a global headquarters, state-of-the-art munitions manufacturing facility, and R&D center in Alcoa’s Partnership Park. The huge impact locally is not just the initial financial investment, but the fact that more than 600 high-wage jobs will be created, primarily for chemists and engineers.

To say this is huge would be an understatement, particularly as the region works to attract corporate headquarters and R&D.

AMI is a global leader in high-end ammunition manufacturing. Click here to read the announcement from the Blount Partnership’s webpage. Separately, AMI also announced a corporate restructuring to accommodate its rapid growth.
