Alternative approach to ACL treatment wins top prize in latest “Vol Court” competition
EasyWhip, an improved approach to the treatment of 200,000 people afflicted annually with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, captured the “Fall 2017 Vol Court Speaker Series and Pitch Competition’s” top prize on Wednesday.
By winning the twice-a-year event, hosted by the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business, Founder Lia Winter captured a $1,500 cash prize and several other services.
Second prize and $1,000 went to Matt Young who pitched Smart Mirrors, a calendar that is visible on bedroom or bathroom mirrors. He developed a prototype of the device to help individuals remember their schedules as a gift on Father’s Day. The winner of third place and $500 was Erica Grant whose Quantum Lock is a patented lock device that blocks out hackers.
