AccelNow, LifeSciTN join forces for April 26 event in Johnson City

LifeSciTN-teknoWhat is likely to happen when a group dedicated to growing start-ups in Northeast Tennessee joins forces with a statewide association focused on growing the state’s life science sector? One expects a good outcome.

AccelNow, the regional accelerator in Northeast Tennessee, and Life Science Tennessee are joining forces to host an April 26 luncheon panel event that will link entrepreneurs with leaders in the healthcare sector. It will be held at the Millennium Center in Johnson City.

“There are a lot of really talented people in this region with solutions that could apply to healthcare,” said Jon Smith, Director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and an AccelNow board member.

In Smith’s view, the two groups have not been connected effectively, and he believes the April 26 forum with allow the panel of experts to outline the challenges they see as the start of an on-going dialogue about possible solutions.

“We want to bring these entrepreneurs into the same room with health science leaders to share needs and ideas,” he told teknovation.biz. The theme is the convergence of life science innovation and health care delivery.

Jim Stefansic, Commercialization Director of LaunchTN, will
make opening remarks. He will be followed by Lance Bridgesmith of the Butler Snow law firm, the event’s sponsor, who will moderate the panel. Participants are:

    Administration at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia;
  • Rob Slattery, President and Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Solutions Health Networks; and
