Chroma Energy Group completes its first Silicon Ranch contract, delivers 1.8 MW of clean energy to Maryville

Chroma Energy Group, an East Tennessee solar engineering and construction firm, has completed a 1.8-megawatt solar installation in Maryville in partnership with Silicon Ranch, one of the nation's largest independent solar power producers.

The system, located at 3121 Mint Road, interconnects with the Maryville Electric Department to add renewable capacity to local industry partners like DENSO while helping address growing energy demands nationwide.

“This project means a lot to us because it’s right here in our backyard,” said Edward Rottmann, chief executive officer of Chroma Energy Group. “We live and work in East Tennessee, and we take pride in building projects that support the communities we call home.”

Why Silicon Ranch chose a hometown contractor

The installation marks the first collaboration between Chroma and Silicon Ranch, which owns and operates more than eight gigawatts of solar and battery storage projects across the U.S. and Canada.

“At Silicon Ranch, we’re intentional about working with local businesses whenever possible because they bring valuable regional knowledge, pride of workmanship, and a long-term stake in the communities where we build,” said Matt Beasley, chief commercial officer of Silicon Ranch.

With an 18-person project team and acting as the full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, Chroma Energy Group brought the system online in just six months. Chroma Energy said this timeline demonstrates that clean energy projects can move quickly when the right local expertise is in place.

“Chroma Energy Group exemplifies the kind of partner we seek out — local, experienced, and deeply invested in East Tennessee,” Beasley said. “That same approach guided our work on this project with DENSO and the City of Maryville, where partnering with trusted local contractors helped us deliver high-quality infrastructure while strengthening the local economy.”
