Clemson hosting Palmetto Pitch event later this week

The competitors come from eight universities across the Palmetto State.

The Upstate Business Journal reports that student start-ups from colleges and universities across the Palmetto State will have the chance to pitch their ideas to investors at Clemson University for the Palmetto Pitch competition. The event is scheduled for November 13.

Eight student teams have been selected from 155 entries to promote their ventures for more than $15,000 in prizes and mentor opportunities from investors and entrepreneurs. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ESY at the Brook T. Smith Launchpad, 390 College Avenue in Clemson.

Palmetto Pitch is a collaboration between colleges and universities and the South Carolina Department of Commerce, and is the only intercollegiate competition in the Palmetto State. The event is hosted each year by a different university.

Event partners and sponsors include the state Department of Commerce; South Carolina Research Authority; Clemson’s Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business; Clemson College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences; Michelin Innovation Lab; Cultivation Capital; Founderville.vc; Kim, Lahey & Killough Law Firm; Clemson Small Business Development Center; The Sullivan Foundation; and PickleBall Bella.

In addition to Clemson, participating schools include University of South Carolina; College of Charleston; Coastal Carolina University; Coker University; Charleston Southern University; Francis Marion University; and Furman University.
