Keynote speaker announced for Southeast Energy Policy Forum

Jeff Waksman, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment, will serve as the keynote speaker for next month’s Southeast Energy Policy Forum.

Scheduled for the afternoon of August 5 and most of the day on August 6, the annual event is hosted by the Center for Energy, Transportation, and Environmental Policy (CETEP), which is housed at the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Waksman advises senior Army leadership on infrastructure, modernization, military construction, housing, energy resilience, and environmental stewardship. Concurrently, he holds a key role in the Department of Defense’s Strategic Capabilities Office, where he leads Project Pele, a pioneering mobile Generation IV nuclear reactor initiative, and oversees Project TRISO, focused on advanced encapsulated nuclear fuel.

There are themes for each day.

  1. On August 5, it is about Energy Demand and Energy Security.
  2. On August 6, the focus shifts to Strategis for Our Energy Future.
