The appointment, pending approval by the LSU Board of Supervisors, is effective July 28. A distinguished scholar and proven leader, Crook brings over two decades of experience in higher education and business to the role.

In addition to leading the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship in the Haslam College of Business, Crook also serves as the First Horizon Foundation Distinguished Business Professor and Cheryl Massingale Business Faculty Scholar. While serving in his current role, the Department has reached new heights in faculty research output, industry partnerships, and student success.

When Crook became Head of the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship in July 2022, he launched a strategic planning process that resulted in curriculum revisions, including the addition of new courses in technology commercialization, sustainability, project management, and leadership. Since then, the department has experienced a 40 percent increase in majors and a double-digit increase in student starting salaries.

In addition, Crook launched one of the college’s leading student success programs called “TakeOff,” which provides targeted guidance to first-generation students as they transition to college.
