MassChallenge announces leadership change, restates its focus is not just the state

A Boston-based organization whose name suggests it is focused on that state has a new interim Chief Executive Officer. MassChallenge, the 12-year-old nonprofit that encourages start-ups at the earliest stages, announced that Executive Vice President Cait Brumme will take over as acting top executive.

So, what’s the name really mean? In an interview with The Boston Globe for this article, she said, “Most people think it is related to Massachusetts, and I don’t want to break anyone’s hearts out there, but it’s ‘Massive Challenges.’”

MassChallenge operates a number of accelerators in the U.S. and other countries.
