Florida city opening start-up incubator in city hall

Here’s a novel twist on the role of a local government in helping spur entrepreneurship in the community.

The City of Boynton Beach, FL is establishing a business incubator inside city hall, contracting with Florida Atlantic University (FAU) to bring its “Tech Runway” program to the facility. The university will pay $1,800 monthly to lease the first-floor space from Boynton Beach, but the Boynton Beach City Commission has also awarded a $50,000 grant to “Tech Runway” for programming at the city hall facility.
