Demand for telehealth services exploding at places like Moffitt Cancer Center, U of Pittsburgh Medical Center

The use of telehealth services has exploded across the country, according to the American Telemedicine Association, which represents hospitals, technology companies and others.

As noted in this article from Roll Call, a DC-based newspaper, the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, has seen a 5,000 percent increase in virtual visits in the past few weeks, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center also has seen telehealth encounters increase from approximately 200 in early March to more than 7,500 in early April, a roughly 35-fold increase in just over 30 days.

We checked-in with Mick Connors of Anytime TeleHealth, the former Knoxville start-up now calling Nashville home that we spotlighted at the start of April in this teknovation.biz article. The demand for its services had exploded at that time, and Connors told us earlier this week that the growth had been steady. “It’s steady now and (we’re) readying for the next wave,” he says.
