$44 million raised for fund dedicated to university students, alumni and faculty

Three years ago, a then 24-year old alum of the University of California (UC) Berkeley started a small fund – $6 million to be exact – that was focused on investing in his alma mater’s students, alumni and professors, and eventually channel some of its gains back into the university system.

Now, The House Fund, as it was dubbed, has launched a $44 million second fund with financial support from the UC system; Berkeley Endowment Management Company, which provides stewardship of endowment gifts given expressly to UC Berkeley; several funds of funds; unnamed family offices; Berkeley alums; and tech execs.
