Almost one in 10 R&D 100 winners in 2013 from this area
Almost one out of every 10 R&D 100 Awards announced earlier this week has East Tennessee ties.
Oak Ridge-based Nanomechanics, Inc., won one award outright and was named on a second one with former owner and customer Agilent Technologies. The award on which the company was lead was “TuffTek,” a materials science application. The shared award was for “Express Test (Electronic Instrumentation),” an electronic instrumentation technology.
We were having lunch with President Warren Oliver and Chief Executive Officer John Swindeman yesterday when the embargo time passed. They were most excited about being a part of two awards.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) won six awards, bringing its impressive total wins to 179 since their inception in 1963. And, the Y-12 National Security Complex won one award for the“LISe” beam instrument.
