UT’s Anderson Center holds “soft opening” for new business accelerator

UT KnoxvilleThe Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ACEI) in the University of Tennessee’s (UT) Haslam College of Business held a “soft opening” for its new accelerator room as part of the “Innov865 Week” celebration.

“We’ll hold a more formal opening next month, but we wanted to be part of the week-long celebration,” Lynn Youngs, ACEI Executive Director, said.

As noted in the pictures below, the space in the UT Business Incubator has the look and feel of a co-working space which is exactly what Youngs and the ACEI team wanted.

“We want it to be the location where we can help accelerate UT’s most promising high potential student start-ups,” he explained of ACEI’s second campus location. “It will be a services rich environment to complement what is already available in the incubator.”

Those services will include an Entrepreneur-in-Residence who will be named in the near future.

“This location is reflective of the Anderson Center’s growing efforts to help student businesses become investor ready,” Youngs explained. The pool of prospective start-ups includes winners of competitions such as “Vol Court,” “Boyd Venture Challenge,” and “Graves Business Plan Competition.”
