USDA report finds considerable innovation occurs in rural areas

USDAPreliminary findings of a new report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic  Research Service refute the long-held assumption that manufacturing innovation occurs primarily in urban areas. In fact, the study found that a majority of rural manufacturers with 100 or more employees were “substantive innovators.”
