Sizzle TechStart holds ribbon cutting ceremony

Sizzle TechStartAs noted in a Thursday post, Commissioner Randy Boyd helped cut the ribbon on the new Sizzle TechStart facility in Roane County.

One of the organizations supporting the effort is the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center (KEC). At yesterday’s event, KEC Executive Director Jim Biggs noted that his organization is part of Launch Tennessee’s statewide network of start-up accelerators. All are focused on helping those starting new businesses be successful.

“We believe that entrepreneurs add incredible value to a community,” Biggs told the attendees yesterday. “Perhaps more importantly, we believe that a community needs to support and nurture people who are taking the risky step of starting and growing a business.  There is no better example of that dynamic than what Dr. Weaver has been able to do with his own businesses, and what he is aspiring to create with Sizzle TechStart, and KEC is excited to be part of that journey.”

Here’s a photo from the Thursday morning event and, for a little more sizzle – pun totally intended – here’s a link to a YouTube video of the ceremony that features some comments by Sam Weaver.
