Serial entrepreneur Paul Cowell has died

Paul CowellWe learned on Friday that Paul Cowell, the subject of this five-part series on teknovation.biz that published earlier this year, has died. The pastor (his term for the calling) became a serial entrepreneur and later innkeeper at Roane County’s Whitestone Inn, but more important an inspiration to many people. We enjoyed his warmth, humor, philosophy, enthusiasm for life, passion for religion, and common decency.

Cowell’s two most notable business endeavors were Book Warehouse and Shop at Home network. Our favorite Cowell saying was this one: “Know how to make a small fortune with a country inn? Start with a large fortune.”

Here’s a link to his obituary. Clearly, this man who came to Knoxville to start a church made a difference in the lives of many. For that, we should all be thankful.
