Latest winners of “Boyd Venture Challenge” announced

Two start-ups that we have spotlighted several times on teknovation.biz captured two of the three investments in the latest “Boyd Venture Challenge” competition hosted by the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville.

Both Lia Winter of Winter Innovations LLC and Erica Grant of Quantum Lock walked away with $10,000 each, while Meg Hutchinson, Founder of Flo+Co, was awarded $5,000. It was another competition and another win for Winter who is clearly on a roll as noted in our most recent article about her company. In Grant’s case, the investment follows “What’s the Big Idea 48-Hour Launch” earlier this year where she captured the top prize and $10,000 to cover reimbursable expenses. It’s also noteworthy that, for both Winter and Grant, it is the second consecutive “Boyd Challenge” where they have captured prize money. Both secured $5,000 in the fall 2018 edition.

You can read more about two of these student-founded start-ups at these links (Winter Innovations and Quantum Lock). Also, here’s a link to the full UT announcement along with a picture of the three winning teams below.
