Don’t forget next week’s “Sky City Initiative” meet-up in Blount County

Sky City InitiativeThe inaugural “Sky City Initiative” meet-up in Blount County is less than a week away. It is set for 6 to 8 p.m. May 8 at Barley’s Taproom, 128 West Broadway in Maryville. You can click here to register.

As noted in this recent teknovation.biz article, the focus is on entrepreneurship and start-ups.“Our goal is to build a culture of awareness and connectedness for entrepreneurship in Blount County,” said Jeremy Laduke, Founder of Epic Nine and a member of the organizing group. “We just want to know what entrepreneurs need to thrive.”

In addition to Laduke, other members of the organizing team include Rachel Buchanan and Claire Carter, Blount Partnership; Kenneth Herring, Cirrus Insight; Bob Hirche, International Center for Minimal Access Surgery Inc. and also the Downtown Maryville Association; Christy McDonald, Maryville College; Renee Ritchie, Feed the Orphans; Lane Shuler, LeConte Realty; K.C. Williams, Blount County Public Library; and yours truly.

The event will feature Storm Taylor, a Blount County native who has returned to start Saint Taylor’s Public House in Downtown Maryville, and Jesse Labelle, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter.
