TN Entertainment Commission holding info sessions across the state
The Tennessee Entertainment Commission is holding a series of meetings across the state this week to help shape a new state incentive program for digital media. The East Tennessee session is set for Friday (September 7) from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bijou Theatre, 803 South Gay Street.
There is also a session from 2 to 3:30 p.m. CDT on Thursday (September 6) at the Nashville Technology Council’s Tech Hill Commons, Suite 210, 500 Interstate Boulevard South, Nashville.
According to Corey Johns, Director of Business Development for the state agency, the General Assembly recently passed the “Tennessee Visual Content Modernization Act of 2018” that broadened the scope of the state’s entertainment incentives to include animation and visual effects, video game development and design; virtual/augmented/mixed reality; music technology applications; education technology software; and streaming services.
Discussion topics for Friday’s session include total project budget ranges; common project expenses; typical project timelines; industry trends and areas of strategic growth; challenges and barriers; Tennessee qualified expenditures; and incentive basics and timelines.
The sessions are open to all digital media industry professionals. For more information or to register, email Johns at Corey.R.Johns@tn.gov.
