The BizFoundry holding open house at new space on November 30
By Tom Ballard, Chief Alliance Officer, PYA
He’s experienced a few unexpected construction bumps, but Jeff Brown says the official grand opening of The BizFoundry’s new offices will occur from 3 to 6 p.m. CST on November 30. The official dedication is set for 4:30 P.M.
“We’re really happy with the downtown location,” the organization’s President and Executive Director says of the roughly 3,600 square foot location. “It’s a 1950s era building on the west side of Cookeville.”
More important, the building is also close to restaurants and breweries that tend to attract young entrepreneurs.
The former furniture store at 114 North Cedar Avenue has been undergoing renovations for several months. You can see a schematic of the layout on The BizFoundry webpage.
Brown says the space will include two conference rooms, some offices, a co-working section, and an event space that will seat about 30 people. The latter is where The BizFoundry will offer many of its programs.
To accommodate those using the co-working space, Brown has installed a door management security system that will permit 24/7 access.
The BizFoundry operates in what Brown describes as four lanes. They are:
- Early stage help that starts with the idea and continues up to the actual launch of the start-up;
- Acceleration that is focused on helping entrepreneurial companies grow;
- Programming that includes coding classes, business programs for youth under the “My Big Idea Youth Innovation and Idea Generation Program” banner, and technology showcases; and
- Collaborative efforts with nearby Tennessee Tech University such as working with the iCube facility and assisting with the “Eagle Works” annual pitch competition for student entrepreneurs.
