SBIR/STTR matching initiative helped by SBA grant to Launch Tennessee

SBA-teknoSpeaking of Launch Tennessee, the organization was one of 16 recipients of grants announced earlier this week by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) under its Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program.

According to the news release from SBA, the “FAST initiative is designed to stimulate economic development with outreach and technical assistance to science and technology-driven small businesses, with a particular emphasis on fostering participation from women-owned and socially and economically disadvantaged firms, helping them to compete in the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs.”

That’s aligned perfectly with the new State of Tennessee initiative that Launch Tennessee is administering.

“The funds will be used to support SBIR initiatives throughout the state,” Lindsey Cox, Launch Tennessee’s Director of Operations and Government Affairs, said. “Most notably, it will help support SBIR training events, which will be held in various locations across Tennessee, and the LaunchTN Microgrants program, which provides SBIR grant writing assistance to Tennessee companies.”
