Here’s a collection of articles over the holiday period

news-updatesUnlike the previous holiday periods since we launched teknovation.biz, the number of articles about entrepreneurship and technology that were posted in newspapers and other media was more limited. Here are a few that we thought you might find interesting.

  • Chattanooga has a new co-working space that opened Monday. Read more about Workhorse here.
  • We posted an article in late August about Birmingham’s new Velocity Accelerator. Here’s a more detailed review of the program and the 10 start-ups in the inaugural cohort.
  • Tennessee has The JumpFund in Chattanooga; Austin has True Wealth Ventures that has raised more than $4.7 million so far and plans to raise a total of $20 million by the end of 2017. More than 80 percent of the investors in the Austin fund are women. Read more about it here.
  • Speaking of Chattanooga, here’s a novel start-up named Brown Bag Delivery. The Founder hopes to take it nationally.
  • UNeTech is a partnership between the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the NU Medical Center that is focused on helping faculty and staff from the two institutions turn their ideas into marketable products and services, creating businesses and jobs. The effort is helped by a one million dollar annual state appropriation. Read more about UNeTech here.
