Advanced manufacturing now supports 19 percent of U.S. GDP

Advanced ManufacturingAdvanced manufacturing is a hot topic these days, and this article cites some reasons for the interest. For example, Oxford Economics estimates that the sector accounts for 44 percent of all U.S. manufacturing employment and supports 19 percent of U.S. GDP. Here’s another meaningful statistic:  productivity in the U.S. advanced manufacturing sector is an estimated $226,071 per worker, a figure that is more than twice the productivity of a worker in non-advanced manufacturing ($106,143).
