DOE announces 33 winners in first round of voucher program
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced 33 winners in the first round of funding under the “Small Business Vouchers Pilot” program. Concurrently, DOE announced Round Two applications are now being accepted through April 10.
The pilot program, announced last year, is designed to provide funding, via the vouchers that small businesses can use to secure technical assistance from DOE labs to bring next generation clean technologies to the market. The monetary value of the vouchers that ranges from $50,000 to $300,000.
No Tennessee companies were selected in the first round announced last week, based on the list posted on DOE’s website. The closest small business selected is Geothermal Design Center in Asheville. It will be working with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to improve a geothermal heat pump.
In all, ORNL will work with nine of the 33 companies, according to a lab announcement.
