“Venture Match” scheduled for March 8 in Nashville

Launch TN StarsTwo statewide organizations championing technology-based economic development are co-hosting a “Venture Match” program from 5 to 7 p.m. CST March 8 in Nashville.

The collaborative event is being hosted at Launch Tennessee’s offices, 211 Seventh Avenue North, in conjunction with Life Science Tennessee.

“Venture Match’s intent is to host opportunities for meaningful dialogue with some of our top innovators, to explore market interest in current research, and to match entrepreneurs and industry with inventors and their technologies,” according to Launch Tennessee’s Lindsey Cox. “Investors, entrepreneurs and people supportive of the start-up community are all welcome to attend.┬áCommercialization of technology is a contact sport – the more opportunities to connect people and engage them in conversation, the better for our chances for a match.”

The presenting companies are:

  • Epikardis Medical, a company that has created a product called the CathLock, which secures catheters that protrude from the chests of patients who undergo heart surgeries;
  • Protypia, a start-up that uses a proprietary method to analyze proteins in tumors to determine how they will respond to certain anti-cancer drugs;
  • Frontier Diagnostics, a company focused on discovering, developing, and delivering tissue-based molecular diagnostics that improve patient care; and
  • Innovasan, a Knoxville-based start-up that has developed the Gauntlet Disinfection System, an appliance for continuous flow on-site treatment of infectious liquid waste generated in hospitals and other medical treatment facilities.

All of the start-ups except Innovasan are part of the Life Science TN “Statewide Mentor Network,” funded mostly by a grant from Launch Tennessee. Innovasan is one of the companies participating in this year’s “The TENN” master accelerator, an initiative of Launch Tennessee.
