TAMA joins with TTU and AIAG to host “Workforce Summit”

TAMAA qualified workforce is a key factor in the continued growth of the region’s automotive sector, both for original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers.

So, it’s not surprise that the Tennessee Automotive Manufacturers Association (TAMA) has joined forces with Tennessee Tech University (TTU) and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) to organize a “Workforce Summit” set for August 20 in Cookeville.

The event will be held at the TTU Oakley STEM Center Auditorium. It is FREE for members of TAMA and AIAG, while members of automotive manufacturers associations in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina get a discounted rate of $25. The non-member registration fee is $50.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the program starting at 10:30 a.m. The morning workforce panel features:

  • Rick Youngblood, TAMA President and Plant Manager, Nissan-Decherd;
  • Ann Thompson, Director of Workforce Development, State of Tennessee;
  • Tom Rogers, Director of Industrial Partnerships and Economic Development at Oak Ridge National Laboratory; and
  • Greg Creason, AIAG Marketing Manager.

After a noon luncheon featuring the President of the Tennessee Chamber, the afternoon will include tours of TTU facilities.
