Chattanooga’s Edney Building being transformed into Innovation Center

Enterprise CenterThe folks in Chattanooga have many reasons to celebrate their entrepreneurial ecosystem. One of the most recent was the announcement that a team of local investors had closed on the purchase of the Edney Building in the recently designated downtown Innovation District.

In an email post, Ken Hays, President of The Enterprise Center, noted that the transaction occurred 114 days after Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke and Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger announced the District’s creation.

“One hundred and fourteen days is less than the blink of an eye in the life of a city, or of a downtown,” Hays said. “The Innovation Center was never meant to be an end in itself, but to be a multifaceted pump-primer for efforts already underway to take the Chattanooga economy to unprecedented levels of innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital equity.”

The CO.LAB will occupy the first floor and other floors will be dedicated to co-working space for small and new ventures as well as what Hays described as “community serving areas programmed for collisions of people and ideas, for problem solving and for socializing.”
